Il Trittico at the Salzburger Festspiele

Asmik returns to the Salzburger Festspiele this summer to perform in a new production of Puccini’s Il Trittico, directed by Christof Loy and co-produced with the Opéra national de Paris. Written in the middle of the First World War, the opera premiered in New York at the Metropolitan Opera in December 1918. Asmik’s debut at the Salzburger Festspiele as the title role in Salome in 2019 was described by the Financial Times as “a Salome to end all Salomes”. This time, she will become one of the few sopranos to perform all three roles in these operas: Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi) alongside as Misha Kiria as Gianni Schicchi and Alexey Neklyudov as Rinuccio; Giorgetta (Il Tabarro), Ms.Grigorian joins Roman Burdenko as Michele and Joshua Guerrero as Luigi, and the title role in Suor Angelica, alongside Karita Mattila as La Zia Principessa and Giulia Semenzato as Suor Genovieffa. The three one-act operas are conducted by Maestro Franz Welser-Möst. Performances are set for July 29th; August 5th, 9th, 13th, 18th, and 21st.
