Role debut as Turandot

Ms. Grigorian returns to the Wiener Staatsoper for her debut in the title-role in Puccini’s Turandot alongside Jonas Kaufmann as Calàf, adding another Puccini heroine to her repertoire. This eagerly anticipated performance is already sold out, and marks the first time that Asmik performs with Jonas Kaufmann. Her acclaimed performance of Jenufa at the Wiener Staatsoper last autumn was praised by Seen and Heard International who claimed: “Asmik Grigorian dominated this Jenůfa… She is as vocally assured as we have come to expect from her and is fully capable of heart-rending lyricism at the end, even after three acts of full-on singing… she is the leading singing-actor of her soprano generation.” Ms. Grigorian is joined by her colleagues Jörg Schneider as Altoum, Dan Paul Dumitrescu as Timur, and Kristina Mkhitaryan as Liù. Maestro Marco Armiliato conducts.

Performances take place on December 7th, 10th, 13th, 16th, 19th and 22nd. Tickets and more information can be found here

The performance on December 16th is set to be broadcast on ORF II. More information can be found here.
