2026/2027 Season
Asmik Grigorian takes on an ambitious international season in 2026/27, moving between major opera productions, recitals, and orchestral collaborations across three continents. She returns to the Wiener Staatsoper and Metropolitan Opera, performs two signature roles, Jenůfa in Barcelona, and Madama Butterfly in London, and makes her role debut as Bianca in Eine florentinische Tragödie and Judith in Bluebeard’s Castle.
The season opens in September with a series of gala and concert appearances, including the Grafenegg Festival, where Ms. Grigorian performs Bellini’s “Casta Diva” from Norma alongside Isolde’s death from Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde. She then appears at the Wiener Staatsoper for the Opernair Gala and returns to the National Theatre in Latvia for a gala performance.

In October, Ms. Grigorian returns to the Wiener Staatosper for a compelling double bill of Bartók’s Bluebeard’s Castle and Zemlinsky’s Eine florentinische Tragödie. She performs Judith in the first and Bianca for the first time in the latter, bringing two dramatically intense characters together in an evening that showcases the extraordinary range of her repertoire. In November, Ms. Grigorian returns to the Metropolitan Opera as the title role in Janáček’s Jenůfa. In Claus Guth’s acclaimed production, she is joined by Nina Stemma, Allan Clayton, and Sean Panikkar, with Tomáš Hanus conducting. During her return to the Met, Ms. Grigorian also gives her first solo recital at the company on November 18, accompanied by pianist Lukas Geniušas.
The winter months bring Ms. Grigorian to recital stages around the world including Princeton, Buenos Aires, Santiago, Gstaad, Lugano, Toulouse, and Stockholm in recital appearances with pianist Lukas Geniušas and for her acclaimed A Diva is Born program.
Ms. Grigorian then begins a new year with a series of major orchestral appearances, including Strauss’s Vier letzte Lieder with the Hong Kong Philharmonic, followed by performances with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra.

In February and March, Ms. Grigorain returns to one of her most demanding roles, Bellini’s Norma. Her interpretation of Norma has already been praised for its combination of vocal intensity and dramatic force, particularly in the famous “Casta Diva,”. In March, Ms. Grigorian takes on another major Puccini heroine: Manon Lescaut at Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin.

Ms. Grigorain also returns to the Metropolitan Opera in May for the company’s 60th Anniversary Lincoln Center Gala before appearing in recital with Lukas Geniušas at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées on May 29. The season concludes with a series of international engagements across Asia, including performances of Strauss’s Vier letzte Lieder in Taiwan and a return to the role of Norma in Japan, a return to the Royal Ballet and Opera for Madama Butterfly, and a return to the Bayerische Staatsoper in July as Lisa in Tchaikovsky's The Queen of Spades.
